All roles are open to audition. Auditioners must bring sheet music with them and be prepared to singe 32 bars, but no more than one minute, of a fully memorized Broadway-style musical selection that showcases their vocal range.

Auditioners should mark their selection with a highlighter. If your audition selection is from CHICAGO, no sheet music will be required - we will have copies available. An accompanist will be provided. A cappella singing, instrumentals on CD, Tape, iPod, mp3 player or digital recorder will not be allowed.

Auditioners will also be asked to read from the script and perform a dance combination that will be taught at the audition.

ABOUT NAUGATUCK TEEN THEATER:
The Naugatuck Teen Theatre (NTT) program started in 1995 by Jim Fritch and a group of theatrical and educational volunteers. The St Michael’s Vestry saw a need for an after school theater program, and the rest is history. Well over 650 teens have past through our doors in the last 20 years.

Any students living in the Greater Naugatuck Region and CT in grades ninth through twelve (at the time of auditions) are eligible to participate. We welcome students of all talent and experience levels. Occasionally, with the permission of the director, eighth graders who have attended workshops with Naugatuck Teen Theater are eligible to audition.

NTT is a tuition-based program - although NTT uses St.Michael’s Parish Hall for rehearsals & performance, NTT is a separate entity and are not financially supported by the Church. All of NTT’s programs are supported through a budget making NTT self-supporting. Tuition is $150 per student (or $200 for families – more than one student involved in the production). Scholarships are available based on financial need.

ABOUT THE SHOW
Premiering in 1975 and the hit of the 1997 Broadway season in a production that originated at City Center's Encore! series, Chicago won six Tony Awards including Best Revival and later the Academy Award as Best Picture of the Year.

In roaring twenties Chicago, chorine Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover and convinces her hapless husband Amos to take the rap...until he finds out he's been duped and turns on Roxie. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another "Merry Murderess" Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the "American Dream": fame, fortune and acquittal. This sharp edged satire features a dazzling score that sparked immortal staging by Bob Fosse.

NTT is a great theater group led by very talented and caring adults. They welcome teens of all levels of experience and talents and always put on a great production. I would encourage teenagers from all area towns to come check it out and audition. The experience of the audition is valuable in itself and this is going to be a great show.
