Bruins Alumni Hit the Ice with Watertown Youth Hockey Association

Tickets On Sale Now for Special Thanksgiving Weekend Fundraising Game; Puck Drops 3:00pm on Sat., Nov. 30 at Odden Arena at The Taft School

WATERTOWN, CT, November 15, 2013 — A team of former Boston Bruins hockey players will hit the ice against a team of coaches from the Watertown Youth Hockey Association (WYHA) for a special benefit fundraising game on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Odden Arena at The Taft School in Watertown, CT.  The puck drops at 3:00pm with the teams playing two 25-minute periods.

To purchase tickets, visit http://tiny.cc/WYHABruinsAlumni or http://WYHA.us.  Tickets are only $15 with proceeds benefiting Watertown Youth Hockey Association, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose fundraising efforts such as the benefit game allow it to consistently offer among the lowest youth hockey registration fees in the state.  The game will be played during the Watertown Youth Hockey Association’s Annual Thanksgiving Tournament, which for decades has attracted the state’s top youth teams to Watertown, CT.  An autograph session will follow the game and there will also be raffle prizes, silent auction and concessions.

The Boston Bruins Alumni is a non-profit organization made up of past players of the Boston Bruins. The Alumni actively coordinates benefit hockey games to raise money for various charities and youth groups.  Confirmed to lead the team is 12-year Bruins veteran, Rick Middleton, winner of the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy, an annual NHL award given to the player adjudged to have exhibited the best type of sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability. Leading the Watertown Youth Hockey Association Coaches is Olympic Gold Medalist, Gretchen Silverman.  WYHA board member, coach and proud hockey mom, Gretchen won a gold medal with the Team USA hockey team at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games in Nagano, Japan. A Connecticut native, she graduated from Loomis Chaffee School and earned her master’s degree at Dartmouth in education. She is currently the head coach of girls ice hockey at The Taft School.  Gretchen will be joined by other members of WYHA’s USA Hockey-certified coaching staff.
