Free Screening & Treatment for Problem Gambling

March 3 - 9 is National Problem Gambling Awareness Week. The goal of the NPGAW campaign to educate the general public, and health care professionals about the warning signs of problem gambling and raise awareness about the help that is available both locally and nationally. 

MCCA (Midwestern Connecticut Council of Alcoholism) is committed to raising awareness of this quickly growing addiction in the communities they serve.

During month of March, MCCA will be offering free screenings and treatment for people who are concerned that they may have a problem with gambling at their Danbury, New Milford and Waterbury locations. Treatment will be provided at no cost to anyone coming in this month, for as long as the treatment is needed.

MCCA offers both outpatient and inpatient treatment for problem gambling and is the only facility in New England that offers inpatient treatment for this addiction.

Betting on sports, buying lotto tickets, playing poker, slot machines, or roulette are only a few of the activities in which compulsive gamblers engage. While many prefer gambling in a casino, the rate of online gambling addiction continues to increase with increased use of the Internet.

Problem gambling is any gambling behavior that disrupts your life – it is possible to have a problem with gambling without being totally out of control.
