Festivals for the Family This Weekend

It's a weekend full of festivals! Choose from cultural festivals and more this weekend.

This weekend is a great time to get out with the family and do some wandering, with entertainment and some great cultural festivals nearby.

The Institute for American Indian Studies is hosting their Green Corn Festival on Saturday, August 4th. Enjoy traditional Native American dancing and other performers from the Southwestern Navajo Nation. There will be powwow style food and arts and crafts for sale. It starts at 11 a.m. and costs $10 for adults and $6 for children.

Delicious Italian food is the order of the weekend at Waterbury Ponte Club's Festa di San Donato. Along with carnival rides, you will also find games for the kids, traditional Italian dancing like the tarantella, and soccer games. A special treat are the fireworks planned for 10 p.m. on Sunday evening. The cost is $5 per car. Another Italian Festival is at the Holy Rosary Church in Ansonia. This Festa has free admission, rides, food and live entertainment.

Other festivals to know about this weekend are the Kent Sidewalk Festival with music and sales, the large Orange Fireman's Carnival, and the Food Festival at St. John's in Washington, CT.
