Pairing Wine with Weather

Whining about the weather? Wine about it instead! Name your favorite weather and wine pairings!

My favorite room in my house is my sunroom. On rainy days, the sound relaxes me, and I can feel like I’m still outside, without actually being outside and getting wet. If it’s chilly, a nice blanket and small space heater is all I need.

A few days ago, with that storm blowing in, we had just finished up battening down the deck furniture when I set about enjoying a nice glass of my favorite year round red while curling up with a crossword puzzle. It was the perfect pairing!

Yes, summer is leaving us in the Northeast. It may be close to 80 for the next few days, but the past 2 days reminded me of what is just around the corner — crockpot cooking and pumpkin flavored everything! And as is the custom for many wine drinkers, our wine choices often change with the temperature or the weather.

So, think rain, snow, sleet, hurricane, thunderstorm, or windy fall day with leaves blowing everywhere. Picture yourself on such a day. What would you be doing, and what would you pour into your wine glass while doing it? We’ll just call this “name your favorite weather and wine pairings!”

Today's drug prohibition is getting violent criminals off the street - how many are in prison rightRead More now? Abuse of crack cocaine, heroin and the like have been proven to alter the brain chemistry, changing the user's personality, and frequently making them violent when they otherwise would not hurt a fly. These drugs are also used to benefit people who need them as prescribed by doctors. Tobacco has no such benefits. And skydiving? What does that have to do with tobacco? Does the skydiver harm other's health a month or more after he/she's been on the ground? No. Tobacco smoke does. It's called third hand smoke. Value? How can you compare art and entertainment with smoking? Anybody can attend an art gallery and not adversely affect anybody else. Any normal person can watch TV or play video games without committing suicide or harming anybody. Smoking hurts everybody and helps no one every time a smoker lights up.
