MUUS Service on Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. will be the subject of the sermon on Sunday, January 15, 2012 at the Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society, 122 South Pomperaug Avenue in Woodbury. The service starts at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Jeanne Lloyd will reflect on the biblical and ethical foundations behind the prophesy and work of the civil rights leader. Rev. Lloyd will look for themes that apply to our lives today. One of the tenets or principles of Unitarian Universalism is "a free and responsible search for truth and meaning". This includes a search through the world's religions and the words and deeds of prophetic women and men. This is the first of several sermons Lloyd will present in coming years regarding prophetic figures. Refreshments will be served. The public is welcome.
