The Nature & Art of Moss at Flanders

Have
you always loved moss and wanted to learn more about its varieties and habits?
Come increase your knowledge and admiration for this bryophyte from Lily Lewis,
Ph.D. Candidate, Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, UCONN.  To help deepen your appreciation, nature
artist Sue Healy will provide tips for taking an artistic perspective teaching
us to look more closely at our subjects. For this brief introduction for
drawing in a nature sketchbook Sue recommends bringing a sketchbook of your
choice, an eraser, Prisma color pencils, a pencil sharpener, and cameras are
essential. The remainder of the class will be spent finding the byophytes in
their habitats, noting features such as substrate and microhabitat, and
sketching and photographing what we find.
