Naugatuck Chamber Duck Day & Race, Sun., June 1

Ninth annual Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce’s Duck Day and Race will
offer many popular activities and events including a Haunted House and
Halloween Costume Contest, Duck Race, Duck Tank, and a Duck Decoration
Contest. This is one of the largest duck race fundraisers in Connecticut
with several thousand attendees. Admission is free and festivities will
take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine.

At 2:00 p.m.
sharp 20,000 rubber ducks will be dumped from the Whittemore Bridge at
the corner of Maple and Water Streets. The ducks will race down the
Naugatuck River to be the first 25 ducks to win the competition.
Festivities throughout the day will include games, food and craft
vendors, circus talent, business booths, live music and much more.
Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day, and in advance, for the
Duck Race, and tickets must be purchased to be eligible to win 1 of 25
prizes.

Duck Race prizes range from top prize of $5,000 cash to a
2 CT diamond 14K yellow gold ladies diamond tennis bracelet; $500 Brass
Mill Center and Commons gift certificate; $500 Roma's Ristorante gift
certificate; LG LN5300 42” 1080p TV; Apple Ipad Mini 16GB WiFi Black;
four tickets for a Broadway 2014-2015 Series performance at The Palace
Theater; $175 Bounce N Play Rentals; gift certificate to a private
chocolate experience party for up to 15 people at Fascia's Chocolates in
Waterbury; plus many more prizes.
 

Raffle prize tickets can be
purchased at Corso Printing & Engraving, Nardelli’s Grinder Shoppes,
Naugatuck Valley Savings and Loan, the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce
and the Waterbury Regional Chamber.

Entrants into the
‘Halloween-in-June’ Costume Contest could win ‘creepy cash’ prizes with
the top award being $1,000. To enter, wear a costume and register at
the“Halloween in June” Costume tent on Maple Street between 11:00 a.m.
and 3:30p.m.” The contest is being sponsored by Anomatic Corp., The
Eastern Company, Naugatuck Valley Memorial Fitzgerald-Zembruski Funeral
Home. The contest will include cash prizes in categories from children
in pre-K to adults 18 years and older.

The popular Dunk Tank will
feature dunking of teachers from Naugatuck High School, Naugatuck Tax
Collector Jim Goggin, and Ion Bank executives, one of the events’ top
sponsors.
