MYTH AMERICA: A dramatic presentation
Nationally recognized master storyteller Carol Birch will be
presenting MYTH AMERICA, featuring a portrait of America during the first half
of the 20th century on Sunday, September 15th, 2:00 pm at
the Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society (122 South Pomperaug Avenue,
Woodbury). Birch will share stories about legendary Lou Gehrig, an Irish
immigrant’s experience, a portrait of Ray Bradbury's grandmother, and a
riveting John Steinbeck tale. The program (for adults and older teens) is a
benefit performance for the Connecticut Choral Society. Tickets ($15) can be

Carol Birch received the Circle of Excellence, an award
given by peers to storytellers honored as masters who set the standards for
excellence. She taught in CT (at Wesleyan and Southern Connecticut State
University) and lectured at more than 40 universities nationwide. She has performed extensively at regional
festivals as well as at the National Storytelling Festival in Tennessee.
International invitational tours have taken her to Europe, Singapore, and
Australia. She has appeared on ABC's Nightline, CBS' Morning Show and on
National Public Radio.
