Go Grocery Shopping with the Watertown Police for Special Olympics

Officers from the Watertown Police Department, Special Olympics athletes and employees of Adam’s Hometown Market will team up for a “Bagging Groceries” Tip-A-Cop event on November 23rd, and all are invited. Officers and athletes will bag your groceries at the check-out registers in exchange for “tips” to support Special Olympics Connecticut. The fundraiser, which engages police serving their community in a unique way for a good cause, will take place at Adam’s Hometown Market, 1167 Main Street, Watertown, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit www.soct.org and follow “Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Connecticut” on Facebook.

Special Olympics Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run®

The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Connecticut is one of the movement’s largest grass-roots fundraiser and public awareness vehicles. This year-round program involves law enforcement officers from across the state who volunteer their time to raise awareness and funds through Tip-A-Cop, Cop-on-Top, and Jail n’ Bail events and other charitable initiatives. In 2012, The Torch Run raised over $500,000 for Special Olympics Connecticut.In addition, over 1,500 officers and athletes carry the Special Olympics “Flame of Hope” each year through hundreds of cities and towns across the state, covering over 530 miles during a three-day run in June.
