Flanders offers Manville Kettle Tour with Carol Haskins

Carol Haskins of the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition will lead this fascinating tour of one of our local geological treasures known as the Manville Kettle, a 6.5 acre Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust property on Judson Avenue, in Woodbury. She will focus on the property’s beautiful land formation known as the “kettle” believed by geologists to be a depression formed during the Ice Age 200 million years ago. We will also learn about the rain garden that Earth Tones Native Plant Nursery is installing with the help of children from the Woodbury Middle School that will help capture, infiltrate, and filter storm water runoff, lessening the impact to the Kettle. This is an easy short hike. We will meet in the parking lot of the Woodbury Middle School. Cost: $12 members (FNC&LT or PRWC)/$15 nonmembers
