The Children's Department will host the second annual Take Your Child to the Library Day on Saturday, February 2.

Families are invited to participate in a library scavenger hunt for small prizes.  Kids can also drop in to play with our huge collection of LEGOs, between the hours of 10:00-12:00.

Young children up to the age of 5 can join us for a special Pre-school Storytime, that morning at 10:30.  Children will listen to Groundhog Day stories and make a craft.

At 11:30, families with children ages birth to 5 are welcome to participate in a free demonstration of a Music Together class facilitated by instructor Leslie Pratt.  She will be bringing Music Together classes to Woodbury soon.  During the demo, children will sing, move, listen to music, and explore musical instruments.  Please register ahead as space is limited.

Families are also welcome to drop in for BINGO at 2:00, to win candy and small prizes.  Crafts for children of all ages will available all day.

No registration is necessary; just drop in and enjoy the fun of taking your child to the library!

Today's drug prohibition is getting violent criminals off the street - how many are in prison rightRead More now? Abuse of crack cocaine, heroin and the like have been proven to alter the brain chemistry, changing the user's personality, and frequently making them violent when they otherwise would not hurt a fly. These drugs are also used to benefit people who need them as prescribed by doctors. Tobacco has no such benefits. And skydiving? What does that have to do with tobacco? Does the skydiver harm other's health a month or more after he/she's been on the ground? No. Tobacco smoke does. It's called third hand smoke. Value? How can you compare art and entertainment with smoking? Anybody can attend an art gallery and not adversely affect anybody else. Any normal person can watch TV or play video games without committing suicide or harming anybody. Smoking hurts everybody and helps no one every time a smoker lights up. Drugs and alcohol, when used in moderation or under the direction of a doctor, can be helpful. Tobacco can not make the same claim.
