Safari to Africa via an armchair at Woodbury Public Library

Sarah Jane Thornington is a portrait photographer, who lives on Cape Cod. Sarah traveled in March to Kenya for a two week long safari. She will share highlights of her trip at the library on January 10th at 7 p.m. During the trip they stayed in eco-lodges, fed a Black Rhino and Rothschild Giraffes, visited schools and women’s weaving cooperatives, took a sunrise hot air balloon ride over the Maasai Mara, had breakfast in the bush, did some stargazing, danced with Maasai women in their village, viewed Mt.Kilimanjaro and saw animals of all shapes and sizes.

Seeing the animals in their natural habitat, lions playing with their cubs, elephants protecting their young, baboons being well, silly, leopards eating their prey, seeing threatened and endangered species going about their lives, and even animals she’d never heard of before! There were so many amazing sites – inspiring and unforgettable. Her trip was just before the rainy season, so many of the animals had just had their young, watching the interaction between families was something she’ll never forget. Sarah’s African safari was truly the adventure of a lifetime and she can’t wait to get back!  Come and hear her enthusiastic memories via beautiful and majestic photography.

We will have a snow date of January 17th for this program.
