Kenyan Minister to Speak at Wdby. North Congregational Church

Woodbury's North Congregational Church is pleased to announce that Reverend Evalyn Wakhusama will be speaking during the North Congregational Church Service on Sunday, February3, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. with a recption to follow.  African drumming and song will be part of the service.  There will also be a free will
offering to be given in support of the Nambale Magnet School in western Kenya.  The public is welcome to share in both the service and reception.

Directly following the service, the North Congregational Church Outreach Committee will conduct a Reception in honor of Reverend Evalyn’s visit.  Finger sandwiches and sweets will be served and Kenyan jewelry will be on sale to help support the school.

Nambale Magnet School - A Brief History:  Reverend Evalyn is the Founder of the Nambale Magnet School (NMS) – Kenya, which is a new outreach mission of the North Congregational Church. In 2007, there was a Woodbury town wide fundraiser to benefit two charities: The Nambale Magnet School through the Cornerstone Project, Inc. and Woodbury Community Services.  Since then the Nambale Magnet School continues to grow at a balanced pace.  In 2009, it opened up its doors to the first 30 Kindergarten students, and as of January 2013, those children have entered a newly constructed Grade 5
classroom. Today, there are over 200 students (some who have been orphaned by the HIV pandemic).

The Nambale Magnet School mission is to give students a premier education while becoming a self sustaining school.  It is evident that the Nambale Magnet School is reaching that goal by students academic scoring and by being a model school that visitors are coming to see to possibly emulate.
