Flanders Film Series 'The Silence of the Bees' with Al Avitabile

Winner of the prestigious Peabody Award, "The Silence of the Bees" explores the disappearance of the honeybee! Beginning in the winter of 2006, millions of disappearing bees left billions of dollars of crops at risk and threatened our food supply. Join researchers following clues from the Untied States to France, Spain, England, Australia and China to discover why honeybees were dying in record numbers -- and to stop the epidemic in its tracks. Al Avitabile, Emeritus Professor at the Biology Dept. of UCONN, and co-author of “The Beekeeper’s Handbook” will be available for a book signing, and will be available to lead a discussion following the film.
