Woodbury Voters Opt to Return Perkinson to Board of Selectmen

Voters chose former Selectman Barbara Perkinson over board appointee Michelle Ecsedy in Tuesday's special election.

Woodbury voters chose to overturn the Board of Selectmen’s appointment of Michelle Ecsedy as their third member, voting 990-947 to return Barbara Perkinson to office in Tuesday’s special election.

Ecsedy was appointed to the BOS in December after former First Selectman Gerald Stomski declined to take his seat as selectman after November’s election.

Perkinson, a longtime selectman and Stomski’s running mate in November, was the local Republican Party choice to take over the seat. Perkinson’s tenure and Ecsedy’s lack of time with the party — she was registered as an Independent until shortly before her appointment — lead some residents to petition the special election.

Once Tuesday’s results are certified, Perkinson will once again take her place on the board.
