25% Voter Turnout So Far In Woodbury

The Woodbury Senior Center is hopping today as residents cast their ballot in the municipal election.

Turnout as of 2 p.m. is 25%, according to moderator Jane Sandulli. "This is a good turnout," she says, emphatically. "It's been busy all day."

A moderator for 13 years, Sandulli speaks from experience.

An hour earlier, at 1 p.m., turnout was 22%. There are 6,760 registered voters in town.

Outside the senior center, Incumbent First Selectman Gerald Stomski, other candidates, and campaign volunteers are greeting voters.

"That's really fantastic," Stomski said of the turnout. He plans on staying at the senior center till polls close at 8 p.m., and will then head to his party's headquarters.

Stomski, a Republican, is fending off a challenge from petitioning candidate Bill Butterly.
