Winter Weather Advisory Forecast for Middlebury & Woodbury

Don't put away the shovels and ice scrapers yet. Forecasts are calling for snow this weekend: Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 23 and 24.

 

Connecticut is facing another bout of winter weather if the forecast goes the way it's presently predicted to go.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for Middlebury, Woodbury and other towns in Connecticut. Here's what you need to know about the forecast.

  • Winter weather advisory is in effect until 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 24
  • Snow accumulations are forecast in the one to four inch range, depending on location
  • Light rain and snow is forecast to transition to freezing rain and snow Saturday night, then switch to all snow in the late night hours
  • Light ice plus snow may make for slippery roadways

Middlebury's NWS Forecast

  • Saturday: A chance of rain and snow before noon, then periods of rain. High near 36. Southeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Saturday night: Periods of rain and snow before 10 p.m., then periods of snow and freezing rain. Low around 30. Northeast wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New ice accumulation of less than a 0.1 of an inch possible. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Sunday: Rain, snow, and freezing rain likely before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 40. Northeast wind 6 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Sunday night: A slight chance of light snow before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23. North wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent.

Woodbury's NWS Forecast

  • Saturday: A chance of rain and snow before 1 p.m., then rain. High near 39. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
  • Saturday night: Rain and snow before 2 a.m., then snow and freezing rain. Low around 31. East wind 5 to 8 mph becoming north after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
  • Sunday: Snow showers likely before 11 a.m., then a chance of rain showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
  • Sunday night: A chance of snow showers, mainly before 7 p.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly clear, with a low around 24. Northwest wind 8 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
