Whether you're in search of something fun to do with the kids or you have a babysitter and are planning a night out, look no further because Patch editors have picked a variety of events taking place today and tomorrow to help you make the most of your weekend. Woodbury: "French Chic" Lecture

The Alliance Francaise of Northwestern Connecticut (AFNWCT) is sponsoring a lecture, “French Chic,” by French interior designer and furniture historian Florence de Dampierre. The lecture will be in English. De Dampierre is the author of a best-selling book entitled “French Chic,” which features decorations and furnishings of her own house in Litchfield.

New Canaan: Cider Saturday Celebration

The New Canaan Nature Center invites folks to come down the hill for a celebration of the abundance of the cider and harvest season. Learn traditional methods of making apple cider, pick and bake apples over a fire pit, churn butter, roast corn and sample a variety of heirloom apples.

"The Cartoonists of Silvermine: Past and Present” is an historical retrospective exhibiting nearly 70 reproductions of 17 cartoonists who worked and/or lived in Silvermine, from 1900 though the present. Come and learn how Johnny Mouse, a cartoon (circa 1912-1914) by Clifton Meek, inspired Walt Disney’s Mickey Mouse.

Norwalk: Boat Show

Gator catching, a modern-day shipwreck, paddlesports and scuba diving are among the many unique attractions cruising into the 2012 Progressive Insurance Norwalk Boat Show. The four-day event starts Thursday, Sept. 20 to Sunday, Sept. 23, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. More info and tickets at www.boatshownorwalk.com. $15 for adults and kids 15 and under are free.

Greenwich: OGRCC Soccer Jamboree

Come and experience ultimate free style soccer performed by the New York Red Bulls Street Team, with clinics presented by professional players and coaches at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center—all hosted by Old Greenwich Riverside Community Center Soccer.

Redding: Redding Harvest Fair

The Saturday event features a harvest fair, tag sale, book sale, bake sale and crafts.

Westport: Movie Under the Starts at Earthplace

The movie is "Horton Hears a Who." Earthplace maintains a 62 acre wildlife sanctuary with trails and children's playground, and contains an interactive natural history museum.

Weston: The Alden Sherman Classic Car Show

Named after longtime Weston resident and legendary car enthusiast Alden Sherman, the first Alden Sherman Classic car show will take place on Sunday. Proceeds from the vintage car and motorcycle show will benefit the Weston Senior Activities Center.

Wilton: Tots to Teens Book Sale Fundraiser

Wilton Library's Tots to Teens Book Sale takes place Friday through Sunday. A wide range of gently-used and like-new items will be available, including board and picture books for children and young adult novels for teens.  DVDs, music CDs and books on tape and CD are also on sale.

Fairfield: Meet & Greet with Wedding Expert

Wedding Expert Maggie Lord, author of Rustic Wedding Chic, will be holding a book signing and author meet and greet at the Fairfield University Bookstore. As the founder of RusticWeddingChic.com, Maggie has helped thousands of brides and grooms plan their rustic and outdoor weddings, and now has put her expertise to work in a beautiful book that features some of the best weddings, tips, expert advice and inspiration she's seen.Join Maggie to ask questions, pick up a book, or chat about the latest wedding trends.

Darien: 'To the Table' Art Show Benefits Historical Society

To the Table is a five-week long juried art sale with paintings, watercolors and photographs depicting the farm to table phenomenon and more: Farms, barns, farm animals, fruits and vegetables, flowers and orchards, roadside stands and markets and fishing. To the Table runs from Friday, August 24 to Sunday, September 30. Free wine and cheese receptions are offered on all Friday nights, except for Labor Day weekend (closed that Sunday as well). These Friday night viewings and receptions are all from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm on August 24 (opening night) and on September 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Oktoberfest Comes to the Perry House in Stratford

The Historic Perry House is bringing Oktoberfest to Stratford! It won't be a 16-day experience, but will be a one-evening event held on September 22, 2012, transforming the Perry House surroundings into a German festival.
