Sophia, the Multi-Language Dog: AFL Animals Looking for Homes

Animals for Life in Middlebury has a myriad of pets in need of a home.

Whether it's Terriers, Tabbys or Tortoiseshells,  lists available pets for adoption. Here is this week's compilation of the newest arrivals to the shelter.

Honey, a Female Labrador Retriever/Terrier Mix

Honey, formerly known as Cheyenne, was rescued by Animals in Life in 2011 from the Hartford Pound, on the last day prior to euthanasia. She was adopted and then brought back due to a change in her owner's living situation, AFL staff said.

Honey had this to say on the AFL website:

I am an extremely sweet, medium energy dog who loves everyone I meet. I'm especially fond of the men in my life! I am great with other dogs, and don't mind if the cats want to play too. I know the basic commands 'sit', 'stay' and 'paw.' I also love to play with toys, but need to be supervised with little ones. I'm just a big, friendly dog who is looking for a family who might have a big backyard and the time to play with me.

Jasper, a Male English Springer Spaniel

Jasper is a regal-looking purebred English Springer who is obedient and already accustomed to living in a home, AFL staff report. He is looking for a new home where he can be the only dog. This fellow forms a close bond to his owner and would not be happy sharing his new family with another dog.

Jasper has never lived with children, so an adult home would be best for him. He is happy and already knows several commands.

Jasper is afraid of thunderstorms, common to many dogs, so a secure yard or leash-walking only will be necessary to keep him safe.

He is not living at the shelter, so if you want to meet Jasper, call 203-758-2933 to make an appointment.

Remi, a Female Terrier Mix

Remi is a Terrier mix who is about 1-2 years old. She is a sweet and gentle girl and AFL staff note that she is shy but warms up quickly.

Sophia, a Female Terrier Mix

Sophia came to the shelter after she broke her leg and her owners could not take care of her. She is just shy of six months old and has a lot of energy.

Animals for Life staff said her leg healed the wrong way but she is tough and does not complain. Sophia reportedly gets along well with dogs and cats and is kid-friendly.

She knows commands in English and Spanish. To make an appointment to see Sophia, contact AFL at 203-758-2933.
