Potholes: Where are They?

It's officially spring, which means it's pothole season -- post here to let Public Works know where the worst are in your neighborhood.

Despite the fact that we had a virtually snow-free winter, Middlebury and Woodbury's streets still took a beating over the winter and with spring comes pothole season.

Potholes appear when the pavement cracks, moisture builds up in the crack and then freezes and thaws. It's a problem that the town really can't avoid.

Potholes can be a year-long problem but are especially noticable in the spring after streets are plowed and sanded over the winter. While the areas for the most part escaped severe winter weather, there still are sections of roads that look like they've been chewed up and are in need of repair.

Do you have bad potholes in your neighborhood? Post the locations here and if you can, snap a picture and upload it here too (but be safe while taking pictures!). Public Works can't fix what they aren't aware of, so a running list of potholes can help them locate problem spots.

And Happy Spring!

I know it's not a town issue, but I've nearly gotten hit by other cars a few times as they try to avoid the craters in the roadway, going almost all the way over into the other "lane", running the cars coming the other way off the road. It's happened to me, I've seen it happen to others." That's a comment from our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/WoodMiddPatch

He continues on to say: "Well, this is a property management issue - whether it's Northwood or New Morning's issue, I don't know. What I do know is it is a hazard with a town-full of older drivers, all of whom consider the roads their personal space." Thoughts?

There are a few potholes on Ridgewood Rd. in Woodbury. When this street was resurfaced the old potholes were not properly repaired and have resurfaced.

Joshua hill has a bunch. And, as you go down the hill, where the pavement stops and there is no curb around the bend infront of 63, the water rushing down the hill is gouging out my property, and starting to erode under the road. I have filled it twice with tar, but the water washed it away, please but a curb or large crushed stone in front of #63
