The Luck2Tuck Great Pumpkin Challenge, in memory of Region 15 student Tucker Gowen, will raise funds for a Pomperaug High School scholarship fund.
Instead of donation and pumpkin drop-off times on Saturday and Sunday, people may drop off carved or decorated pumpkins with a $5 donation on Saturday only, October 27, from noon to 5 p.m., at Newbury Place.
On Saturday night, the pumpkins will be lit and clean-up of the pumpkins will take place on Sunday.
"For those of you who would like your pumpkin back to display at home, please come by on Sunday to Newbury Place and pick up your pumpkin by 3:00 p.m.," the organizers stated on the Facebook page. "All pumpkins left behind will be donated to a local farm."
For those who cannot attend, donations may be made via PayPal on the Luck2Tuck Great Pumpkin Challenge website or at Newbury Place.
Homemade cupcakes will also be sold, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward the scholarship fund. A box of four cupcakes is $10.
The cupcakes are made by Patti Frering, Donna Cremin, Liz DePalma, Margaret Ianniello, Virginia Mooney, Megan Beecher, Marian Van Egas and Kathy Rubinstein.
