Giant Spider Helps Collect Middlebury Food Bank Donations

No need to fear this spider, folks. He and his Middlebury owners are into treats, not tricks.

For 35 years, Middlebury resident Dan Hitt and his family go all out for Halloween.

"My family decorates for Halloween on a level beyond most," he said in an e-mail to Woodbury-Middlebury Patch. "We start the last weekend in September."

This year, he added one special decoration to the mix—a donation bin for people to leave non-perishable food items for the Middlebury Food Bank.

The donation bin will be outside his home, located on Three Mile Hill Road toward St. until 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28.
