, will host a cut-a-thon today (Monday, Jan. 7) to raise money for a scholarship to be given in memory of the Sandy Hook Elementary School Principal.
Haircuts will be given today during the event, which runs from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Haircuts are $10 and all proceeds will go toward the Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Memorial Scholarship Fund. Registration is not required. The academy is located at 97 Washington Ave., North Haven.
Hochsprung, 47, a Naugatuck native who was living in Woodbury, reportedly tried to take down the shooter of a horrific mass shooting on Dec. 14. She was shot and killed, along with five other staff members and 20 children.
Hochsprung's two adult daughters have set up a scholarship fund in her memory. The scholarship will be given annually to a Naugatuck High School senior who plans to pursue a career in education.
