showcases cats, dogs and the occassional puppy, all in need of forever homes.
The Animals for Life website features information on the animals and upcoming events. The shelter can be reached at 203-758-2933. The following animals are the newest arrivals to the shelter.
Alaska, a 2-Year-Old Female Terrier Mix
Alaska was found me roaming the streets. She has lots of energy and will enjoy long walks with her new family.
Chip, a 1-Year-Old Male Pomeranian/Pekingese Mix
Chip has loads of energy. He is friendly, loves to run around, play with stuffed animals and give big kisses. He will jump into your arms on command.
Dexter, a Male Blue Tick Beagle
Dexter was rescued from a local town pound. He is a laid back and friendly boy who just wants to be loved. He has already made friends at the shelter and his best friend is Chip. He gets along well with other dogs and loves having attention. An experienced Beagle owner is best and he is hoping for a fenced in yard.
Harry, a Male Shih Tzu
Harry is a sweet little male dog who is currently living in foster care. He has taken a bit to warm up to his new surroundings, but once he does, he is a happy, energetic dog. One of Harry's cutest traits is that he actually tries to talk to his foster mom and it almost sounds similar to the chatter that human babies makes.
This boy is not a huge fan of the outdoors, so he be happiest spending his time indoors and right next to his owner.
Jake, a 5-Year-Old Male American Bulldog
Jake has an all white coat with little brown markings on my ears. He has a great smile. Jake loves to learn tricks and enjoys riding in the car, taking long walks and relaxing outside in the sun. He is a trusting canine who is on a mission to please his owners.
KiKi, a 4-Year-Old Jack Russell Terrier
If you're looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying and low maintenance relationship, Kiki may be the dog for you. She is petite and a little afraid of bigger dogs, but is willing to make friends with dogs her own size.
Roxie, a 10-Year-Old Female Boston Terrier
Roxie is active and in good health. She is petite, not weighing more then about 12 to 13 lbs. She recently lost her home due to her family not having the time to care for her. Roxie is spunky, loves attention and has a great personality. She was crated often and did not like that. A gated area or fenced-in yard to play in would work well for Roxie.
She tends to be reserved around new people, which AFL staff attribute to her prior experiences, but does show her sweet personality when she trusts people.
