Winter Tree Identification

Dave Neal
This fun and informative class will attempt to integrate multiple techniques for proper identification of native and some naturalized trees.  Although no replacement for a formal Dendrology course, it will introduce you to morphologically unique characteristics that are used to separate and identify species.  We’ll go over basic twig anatomy, followed by a more comprehensive look at tree identification using bark characteristics and symptomatic appearance of disease. Winter is an excellent time to view these physical. The objective is not to over burden you with too much information, allow a general conceptual framework for Winter Tree ID.  After a break we will continue outdoors (dress appropriately),where we will stop at a number of trees around the store where you will learn each tree's importance as a forest tree.  Arboricultural concepts and treatments will be drawn both from discussion during the day, and your questions!  All proceeds of this course will be donated to the Center for Biological Diversity. Walking With Ease and Power

Sunday, February 23rd 11:00am

Find out what's happening in Woodbury-Middleburywith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Byron Eddy LMT, CMI

Walking is the premier functional exercise of daily human life.  Observe people walking and you will see many different forms. Why? It is a learned behavior and is not part of our autonomic nervous system. We learned to walk primarily through observation and experimentation. Using the functional pathways of CMI we can become aware of and change, in a positive way, our habitual patterns and come out better possibly avoiding hip, knee, and back trouble. In this two hour class you will be guided into new ways of walking from standing, lying, and sitting positions. This is not an exercise class and is beneficial to all people in all “walks” of life. Dress in comfortable clothing and be prepared to move. Bring a yoga mat or large bath towel.  GET Tickets:  $24.00  : www.newmorn.com
