Carole Peck hosts Girls Inc. of Southwestern Connecticut’s “Who Inspired You” Canvas Art Exhibit at Good News Café

Thanks to the generosity of Carole Peck, long time Girls Inc. of SWCT supporter, patrons of the Good News Café can experience the first of its kind, canvas art exhibit, "Who Inspires You?" and help send local girls to summer camp.

The canvas collection started as a way to recognize women who have inspired the girls and their mentors. It began as an idea that would enlist the efforts of "local celebrities" to lend their names to this project and help send local girls to Summer Camp. What has taken shape is project that has become much more personal and compelling for those involved. The team at Girls Inc. of SWCT asked several of their local mentors, those that inspire their girls along with girls who wanted to attend camp, to participate by painting their inspiration on these canvas pieces, each of which represents a girl who would like to attend summer camp.

The response has been amazing and patrons of the local establishment have embraced this unique and captivating idea. Through generous donations received to date, girls from the Greater Waterbury area have been able to attend the day camp at Girls Inc. of SWCT, Waterbury, CT. Each week, the girls are treated to wonderful field trips, amazing speakers and dazzling projects that inspire their creativity and spark their imaginations.

This display will continue thru the next few weeks. Guests at Good News Café can enjoy the artwork as they arrive and if they are moved, as so many have been to date, they can make a donation to send a girl to camp. All donations received go directly toward the cost of attending the camp. Donors can expect to receive updates throughout the summer of the activities the girls’ have enjoyed. In addition, all donors are recognized during the camp and at the end of summer family bash. Stop in today and enjoy an amazing meal while helping our local girls create those magical summer camp memories!
