Rich Farm Ice Cream Parlor Is Open For The Season

Home of the Razzmanian Devil and the Cookie Monster, this ice cream shop is known for its unusual flavors.

A renowned local ice cream parlor that has been ranked among the top in Connecticut and beyond for several years is officially open for its 18th season.

at 691 Oxford Road, or Route 67, opened on Saturday, March 3. The ice cream shop made the announcement on the Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop website and Rich Farm Ice Cream Shop Facebook page.

When the company made the announcement on Facebook last month, 61 people "liked" it and many have said they simply cannot wait any longer. Someone posted the night before opening day and said she could not even wait 18 more hours for the shop to open.

The business opened on July 3, 1994, by Dave and Dawn Rich, on what is known as Ajello's Farm, according to the company's website. The couple, along with their children, opened the business to enhance their already existing dairy farm, which has been in the family for five generations.

The website noted that "all of the ice cream is made daily on the farm, using only the highest quality ingredients."

In 2010, Connecticut Magazine readers voted Rich Farm the best ice cream parlor in Connecticut, and the shop has received several more accolades over the years.
