Readers' Choice: Best Place to Buy Plants and Flowers

As of Thursday morning, Petal Perfection & Confections has the most votes for florist shops and The Garden is the top vote-getter for the place to buy plants. Where do you go to buy plants and flowers and to get advice from experts? More importantly: Why

Clementine, carnations, clematis and chrysanthemums — Connecticut has a number of options when it comes to buying plants and flowers, whether it’s a nursery, florist, home improvement and landscaping outfit or a combination thereof.

We’re asking you, our Woodbury-Middlebury Patch readers, to tell us where you go to make your yard and gardens beautiful.

Vote in our poll and especially post your ratings and reviews of our local businesses right into our directory by clicking on the links below. Voting closes at 9 a.m. Friday, April 27, and the winner will be announced at noon the same day.

That’s going to help future Woodbury-Middlebury Patch users make their own decisions on the best place to go, help us crown our Readers' Choice winners and make local business owners feel loved.

If we're missing a shop, let us know in the comments and we will add it to the poll.

The new place in woodbury, petal perfections and confections, is great. I go there all the time to pick up a flower at a time for somebody or to get bouquets - they do an awesome job and they have a great variety of gorgeous fresh flowers. they sell candy too nom nom

I think the poll is somewhat misleading: some of the spots on the list are true nurseries (nursery stock in pots, perhaps a few gift items) and others, like Petal Perfections and Confections, is more of a florist. I wouldn't go there for a flat of impatiens or flat-leaf parsley, and I wouldn't go to Young's for a beautiful bouquet of cut flowers or an arrangement. So this feels like a bit of apples and oranges. Maybe it should be two different polls: one for local florists and another for local garden centers/nurseries? Then the results might be more useful to readers...?

I completely understand what you're saying, ctmom. Fortunately, comments on the article and reviews of the business all factor into who is crowned the winner and when the results article is published, it could be broken down by category. Hope that helps!

I agree. I go to Youngs for Trees and shrubs, but go else where for flowers.

I will take that into account when it comes time to close polls - so Bob, if you go to a Middlebury or Woodbury spot for flowers, feel free to share it in the comments. That carries weight too.
