Back East Brewing Opens in Bloomfield

The Back East Brewing Co. is one of a number of new breweries that will open this year statewide, giving consumers and those working to boost the local economy a bit of good news.

Back East Brewing Co. joined the ranks of the state’s growing craft beer industry this month and plans to have their locally crafted beer available on package store shelves in late July or early August.

“At package stores we’ll have half gallon growlers of our Ale, Golden Ale, and Misty Mountain IPA, and 750ml bottles of our Imperial Stout and Imperial IPA,” said the brewery’s co-founder, Tony Karlowicz. “We’ll also have draft beer at fine restaurants throughout the area.”

“We’re very excited to be a part of this growing community of local breweries,” said Karlowicz. “Connecticut residents are very supportive of small, local businesses, and also enjoy drinking better tasting beer. We’re excited to be able to offer Connecticut residents a new local brew.”

Area enthusiasts will also have a new craft beer destination when the brewery’s tasting room, located at 1296A Blue Hills Avenue in Bloomfield, opens for business on Wed, July 18.

“We’ll be open 4 - 7 p.m., Wednesday through Friday for growler fills and merchandise,” said Karlowicz. “We’ll have Saturday hours from 12 - 4 p.m., and we’ll offer tours every hour with our last tour being at 3 p.m.”

Back East Brewing Co. aims to embrace recent efforts to unify the state’s craft beer industry by participating in the CT Craft Brewers Guild and serving as a stop along the state’s burgeoning CT Brewery Trail.

“I think the CT Brewery Trail is a great way to bring recognition to CT’s growing community of breweries.  We want people to know we’re part of the community,” said Karlowicz.  “You’ll always be able to get fresh beer from our tap room, see what’s happening, pick up some merchandise, and stop by and tell us what you think.”

Back East will formally celebrate their grand opening with a launch party on Saturday, Aug 11 , from 12 - 4 p.m. The event will feature tastings, tours and a chance to meet the Back East team.  The brewery will also have a couple of special items and surprises at the event, including limited quantities of their inaugural batch of Imperial Stout in limited edition 750ml bottles.

Keep your eyes on Back East Brewing and be sure to ask your local beer store and bars for their beer.
