A Strong Message Delivered

By now everyone has heard the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death. I, like many Americans, got a barrage of media messages confirming the death shortly before retiring Sunday evening. When I awoke Monday morning to start my week, and the reality of the situation began to set in, I couldn’t help but continually think about, what now?

There are several questions that have surfaced: How, if any, will this change our position in the Middle East? How does this shape the presidency of Barack Obama, a year away from an election? What does this do to the strength al-Qaeda? Will this promise to deliver the death of Bin Laden, a promise that has now been upheld, change the way countries view the United States?

Most would be hard-pressed to answer the majority of those questions immediately, and time will certainly be the ultimate tell-all, but I believe the last question has an immediate and resounding answer – Yes. The killing of Bin Laden showed the world, and more importantly the people in America whose beliefs had faltered, that when the United States of America vows to take action, they will. No matter the time, no matter the circumstance; they will get their man.

I for one am proud of our country, our service men and women and the efforts of everyone involved in this operation. Way to go, guys
