Animals for Life: One Puppy Left in the Litter

Snowflake is the only puppy in Vicky's litter still looking for a home.

is offering five new animals since last week's compilation.

The Animals for Life website features information on the animals and upcoming events. The shelter can be reached at 203-758-2933.

Bahama Mama, a Female Terrier Mix (No Photo Available Yet)

AFL staff say Bahama Mama is one of the most well-adjusted dogs they ever met.

"We know a lot about this dog because before coming to us, she lived in a busy foster home with kids, and she fit in wonderfully," staff said. "Mama was originally abandoned after her family moved away and left her behind."

Bahama Mama is 2-3 years old, weighs about 70 pounds and is fully housebroken and crate-trained. She is already trained in commands such as 'sit', 'come', 'leave it' and 'fetch.'

She walks well on leash and knows how to ring a bell when it's time to go out.

Bella, a Female Tortoiseshell cat

Bella is an affectionate and playful kitty who came from a home where she was loved. Her owners were reluctant to give her up, however their other cats ganged up on her and they felt it was best to try to find her her own home, where she can relax. She is super-sweet and got along well with their toddler.

Bella likes to play -- a foil ball is one of her favorites to chase around. She is approximately 2-years-old.

Blue, a Male Mastiff Mix (No Photo Available Yet)

Blue is a big boy in body but a youngster at heart. This 1-year-old Mastiff mix loves to play. He is strong on leash, but once he gets walking he settles down. With a little practice, he will learn quickly! Despite his size  -- he's about 75 pounds -- he plays gently with the puppies and dogs at the shelter. He is not fond of cats and is looking for a new home that is feline-free.

Julian, a Male Cat

Julian was rescued in a neighboring town and brought to Animals For Life. He had clearly been neglected for awhile, evident from the bad case of ermines. Julian has since been neutered and vetted and is doing well. He is happy to be in the warm shelter and receiving attention and will even roll over for belly rubs! Julian is between 1-2 years old.

Truffles, a Female Chocolate Labrador Retriever (No Photo Available Yet)

Truffles is looking for a family to take hikes with or maybe a doggie companion to run and play with. This female Chocolate Lab is a year old and has the typical Lab personality -- outgoing, lovable, and playful. Truffles likes taking walks with shelter volunteers and longs to play with every dog she passes.
