Charlie the Dog is Home; Ran Away from Earlier Car Accident [UPDATE]

Middlebury Animal Control is seeking the public's help in searching for the dog.

Charlie, a dog who went missing after a car accident earlier today, was found at approximately 11:30 p.m.

"He is in good shape," Animal Control Officer Jim Roy told Patch. "Minor lacerations only."

He said Charlie showed up at a residence in Ridgewood at Middlebury on Ridgewood Drive and was picked up by his owner.

"Thanks to everyone for their help and concern," said Roy. "It is greatly appreciated."

A brown Cocker Spaniel/Shar Pei mix is missing after a 2:30 p.m. car accident, Animal Control Officer Jim Roy told Patch.

The accident occurred today in the vicinity of Long Meadow Road and Route 188. The dog's family are presently at a local hospital, he said.

The dog, whose name is Charlie, ran from the car through Avalon Farms, toward the Judd Hill Road/Christian Road area, Roy said. Charlie may have a head injury sustained from the accident, he said.

At around 7:47 p.m., Roy said the search was called off due to the weather and nightfall,

"I thank everyone during and after for their effort," he said.

Roy said the search will resume tomorrow.
