Spring Cleaning The Body

Giving our body a chance to heal, it will heal. Cleansing is a great way to reset for our healthy season, clearing out the cobwebs of winter. Spring has sprung.

Ah, to wake up and hear the birds singing, feel the freshness of the spring air, and see the earth coming to life. Spring brings us a renewal, rejuvenation and a levity. The earth knows what to do to clean itself, all by itself.

Our bodies do too. In the spring, we are given fresh food from the earth in many forms. It might be from our garden or the fields and forests. There is a vast array of goodness that the earth provides, to give our bodies the broom with which to swish out the cobwebs of the winter cave.

For many, being indoors brought allergies, winter sickness, maybe medication and a host of other weights on the body systems. We don't too often think of all that goes into our bodies, through our food, our air, water and on our skin.

Many who have weight concerns may not even realize the burden their body carries, nor the source of it. Cleaning the body lightens this burden and frees it to heal, as well as lose the weight. Often the body holds a lot of water to dilute toxins that are stored in the fat.

Just as you clean your house, you need to clean the body house you live in as well. Many think of a cleanse as a fasting or deprivation of some sort. A true cleansing feeds and nourishes the body, while ridding excess material, at the same time. A whole food cleanse answers the body burden in a beautiful way.

That is my approach to cleansing, feeding the body all it needs to heal itself. Not pills, powders, potions, just real food for real healing. You see, when you give the body what it needs, it heals. Like our earth, given the chance, our bodies heal.

Cucumber Greens Delight Detox

1 cucumber
1 large cup of spinach
1 large cup of parsley
1 celery stalk

1/2 lemon, fresh squeezed juice

Juice, drink, detox and de-light!
