The Walking Dead: Woodbury vs. Woodbury

A look at our town versus the setting from AMC’s popular television show about zombies.

In season three of the popular AMC television show The Walking Dead, survivors of the zombie-plagued world band together in a small Georgia town called Woodbury.

Clearly, that town and the Woodbury we know and love are somewhat different.

Population

Woodbury, GA: 1,102 (pre-zombies), 72 (post-zombies)

Woodbury, CT: Approximately 9,975

Zombies

Woodbury, GA: Mostly zombie-free. Though the “walkers” are a constant threat.

Woodbury, CT: Mostly zombie-free. Though pictured above is one Woodbury zombie photographed by Craig Sandor of Concert Captures - Photography by Craig Sandor.

Update: Reader Jerry notes that Woodbury has something Georgia doesn't: a resident Zombie — Rob Zombie.

Business

Woodbury, GA: Has a McDonald's, Walmart and arena where fights are held for entertainment (in the graphic novels).

Woodbury, CT: Home to the Antiques Trail.

Healthcare

Woodbury, GA: On the cutting edge of zombie-prevention research.

Woodbury, CT: 'Tis the season for flu shots.

Safety

Woodbury, GA: High walls, weapons, strict curfews.

Woodbury, CT: The Woodbury Police Department, Public Works and Woodbury CERT keep residents informed, roads clear and so far, mostly zombie-free (with the exception of the one captured on camera by Craig).

That's cool, Chris - I've yet to have a Zombie sighting in Woodbury! So what kind of fish are in the river and did you catch anything that day?
