In his Thursday, Feb. 14, address at HealingNewtown Arts Space opening next to Caraluzzi's on Queen Street, Gov. Dannel Malloy said the outpouring (and display) of art from around the world shows the community of Newtown has much to be proud of.
HealingNewtown Arts Space is a nonprofit organization, founded after the Newtown tragedy late December 2012. It has a two-fold goal, with the first being to help the Newtown Cultural Arts Commission develop the capacity to manage crisis and overwhelming response to the tragedy and, secondly, to develop an operation that is sustainable for long-term healing through efforts that are art-based.
