Tea and Touring: A Special Walking Tour with Rachel Carley

Have you ever wondered about why so many of the houses in Litchfield are white with black shutters? How about the people who lived in some of these elegant homes? If so, please join Rachel Carley, architectural historian and author of Litchfield: The Making of a New England Town, for a special, in-depth walking tour of Litchfield’s historic South Street. The tour will visit the rarely seen, beautifully paneled 18th-century Georgian ballroom at the Elijah Wadsworth House—where George Washington danced—as well as the private grounds of the c. 1752 Oliver Wolcott Sr. House. This one-of-a-kind program will be followed by tea and cookies at the Tapping Reeve House. Space is limited, so sign up early! Please wear comfortable walking shoes and meet at the Litchfield History Museum. The tour will last about two hours.

Registration is required. Please register by emailing registration@litchfieldhistoricalsociety.org.
