Follow Us to History: Hurd House Open for Colonial Fair

The Hurd House Museum has scheduled an Open House during the Colonial Fair Day in the Hollow. Enjoy the afternoon, as costumed docents share the history of life in Colonial New England.

View the restoration of the Hurd House Herb Garden as designed by Adelma Simmons of Caprilands. Explore the collection of antique farm tools. "Pull up a barrell" and play an old fashioned game of checkers in the barn. Activities and demonstrations will include: open hearth cooking, blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, pottery and children's crafts.

Local educator, artist, spinner and children's author, Dianne Parmalee will be on hand with copies of her newest release, "Sarafina Mudpie Oinker." Other vendors will include: Tinsmith/Blacksmith Doug Schlicher, Pottery by Stephen Henion, Jewelry by Kellyanne Kemp.
