Beat the heat this August at the Mattatuck Museum enjoying scenes of Venice in the air-cooled comfort of the museum’s Performing Arts Center.  The new film series “Cinema Summer” has been developed in conjunction with the current exhibition Reflections and Undercurrents: Ernest Roth and Printmaking in Venice, 1900-1940. The new series will focus
on scenes of Venice in three films to be presented on consecutive Wednesdayafternoons at 2:00 p.m. in August.

The series concludes on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 with the Italian comedy, Bread and Tulips (Pane e tulipani) released in 2000. After being forgotten by her family at a
highway café during a bus trip, Rosalba is told by her husband to stay put until someone comes back to get her. Offended that she has been left behind, Rosalba decides to find her own way by hitch-hiking to Venice. While on her
journey she meets strange but fascinating people. This film is presented in Italian with English subtitles.

Admission to these films is $5 for museum and OLLI members and $8 for non-members. Join the museum to immediately qualify for member benefits. Please register in advance at www.mattatuckmuseum.org or call (203) 753-0381,
