Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust is now enrolling children, ages 3 to 5, in programs that encourage an appreciation of the natural world. Classes are held at the at the Van Vleck Farm and Nature Sanctuary Trail House, on Church Hill Road beginning September 10, 2012. Programs run through June 2013.

“Outdoor Rangers” is offered on Mondays and Tuesdays from 9 to 11:30 am or 12:30 to 3:00 pm, beginning September 10 and 11. Children explore the forest, fields and ponds at Flanders’ 200-acre campus. Nature hikes build physical strength and nurture environmental concern. Stories, crafts and games round out the program, which encourages young children to learn about nature.

“Be Smart With Art” is offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays from

9- 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 – 3 pm, beginning September 12 and 13. In the program, young artists discover the joy of painting and connect science, nature and art, while creating their own “masterpiece.”

Program fees are $20 for Flanders’ members and $27 for non-members, per class. Pre-registration is required. For more information or to register, call 203-263-3711, x 10, email flanders@flandersnaturecenter.org  or visit www.flandersnaturecenter.org.
