Art Reception featuring the work of Teen Librarian, Marla Martin

AUGUST ART DISPLAY FEATURES TALENTED TEEN LIBRARIAN

Marla Thornington Martin is the Teen Librarian at the Woodbury Public Library.  In her free time she likes to create collages from recycled materials.  While clearing out old supplies at the library, the idea for “Literary Cards”, a collection of literature inspired art on outdated due-date cards, was born.  She hopes to see the cards take a library tour across the country someday.  She also loves to mosaic, read, kayak early mornings, and spend time with her family.

Mrs. Martin (left) is pictured here accepting the special achievement award which she received from the Connecticut Library Association in 2011.  This recognition was earned due to her tremendous accomplishments in programming, acquisition, and design for the small teen space at Woodbury Public Library.
