Fundraiser Thursday for Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Scholarship

The fundraiser will benefit a scholarship fund named for the late Sandy Hook principal and Naugatuck native.

 

A fundraiser for a scholarship in honor of late Sandy Hook principal Dawn Hochsprung will take place at Senor Pancho’s in Prospect on Thursday.

The event will be held from 3 p.m. to close at the restaurant, 280 Cheshire Road, Prospect.

Twenty percent of all checks will be donated to the Dawn Lafferty Hochsprung Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be given annually to a Naugatuck High School student who wishes to pursue a career in education.

Hochsprung, 47, was a 1983 Naugatuck High School graduate, was killed in the massacre at Sandy Hook on Dec. 14 while trying to protect her students.

The scholarship was set up weeks after her death and, so far, several fundraisers have been held, raising thousands of dollars.
