Neighboring News: Winter Festival Offers Outdoor Adventures

From snowshoeing to storytelling - this winter festival has a lot of activities taking place.

 

The sixth annual Winter Festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4, at Black Rock State Park in Watertown.

There is no cost to attend.

Activities include fish stocking at noon, ice fishing, a fish fry, snowshoeing education, tracking, ice safety rescue demonstrations by the Watertown Fire Department, winter survival skills, winter painting with artists from Weir Farm, visits from Resources in Search and Rescue and the Connecticut Horse Council's Volunteer Horse Patrol and a bonfire complete with a marshmallow roast and storytelling.

The event is offered by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
