Autumn is definitely in the air this week! For some of you, it may be too early, but I have a confession.
I've already cracked open the pumpkin brews.
I started with Shipyard Pumpkinhead but it wasn't flavorful enough for me. So I popped over to Discount Liquors of Woodbury and asked John Ryan: What popular fall beers should I try next?
"As of right now, the pumpkin beers are running pretty strong," he said. "Shipyard seems to be the leader, in terms of pumpkin beer."
Been there, drank that.
Samuel Adams Oktoberfest is always a popular seller, Ryan said. But that's a fairly common brew, he added.
"A few were difficult to get," Ryan said.
Southern Tier Brewing Company's Pumpking fit the bill and left the shelves quickly.
"I didn't even get to try that, it went so fast," Ryan said.
But he did get to try Two Roads' Roadsmary's Baby, also a pumpkin brew. While not usually a fan of flavored beers, Ryan said the Stratford-based brew was pretty good!
If you're a fan of sweeter stuff, Ryan said pumpkin pie cream liqueurs are the way to go. They're perfect for making a mean pumpkin martini.
List in hand, I'm ready to start checking off the pumpkin beers!
