Animals For Life Seeks Homes For the Holidays For Pets

The Animals for Life shelter is open from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursdays and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, except for holidays.

Hunter, a male American Staffordshire Terrier Mix

Hunter is a young male mixed breed dog. He arrived at the shelter as a stray and has impressed volunteers with his calm demeanor. He is young and not jumpy or hard to handle. He adores when people stop and pet him and is fond of other dogs too.

McCoy, a male Chow Chow/Black Labrador Retriever mix

McCoy is a handsome Chow mix looking for a quiet, adult home where he can flourish. This boy is full grown with a soft velvety coat. He spent some time in a home but it wasn't the right fit. Mccoy has since been evaluated further and is ready for his chance at freedom again. He is quiet and well-behaved.

Nahla, a female Shepherd mix

Nahla is a young, female Shepherd mix. Her previous home was active with kids and dogs. She will be happiest in a home that is more quiet and with adults. She does like other dogs and loves to be the center of attention, AFL staff report. Nahla has basic obedience training. She is shy in new surroundings but given the right situation, will make a devoted friend.

Pearl, a female domestic short hair cat

Pearl is one of the newest kittens to arrive at the shelter. She was saved from the streets of New Haven and will be vetted soon. Additional information will be provided in the coming weeks.

Ronnie, a male American Staffordshire Terrier mix

Ronnie is a nice sized dog who was overlooked at a larger shelter and has been waiting for far too long for a forever home. Ronnie is a perfect gentleman with other dogs and walks beautifully on leash. He is ready to have a home.

Sarge, a male Golden Retriever/Shepherd mix

AFL staff are seeking to place Sarge in a home for his current owners. He is about 3 years old, is good with other dogs, currently on vaccinations and neutered. He is is need of a new home because of changes in his owner's schedule. He needs more exercise and attention than he is given and will make a wonderful pet for someone who has the time to work with him. He is smart, strong and friendly.

Zorro, an American Staffordshire Terrier mix

Zorro is a 1-year-old male terrier mix who loves to play and keeps busy with toys, when he is not playing with his human friends. He was saved recently from a municipal pound that was overcrowded and his time was up.  This young dog is under a year old and is looking for a home where he can gets lots of exercise and play time.
