Woodbury Municipal Budget Vote Today!

Friends of Woodbury,

Vote Yes for Higher Taxes in Today's  Woodbury Budget Referendum! This proposed budget will increase our mill rate from 23.4 to 26.23 resulting in higher real estate taxes. They are blaming it on the town reevaluation. But they are increasing town spending in unneeded pay to town employees and using monies in the Fund Balance, which could be used to keep the mill rate increase down. These are really the causes.

Here is what they should do:

1) By reducing the "pay plan" by an amount - say $100,000, it would have the potential effect of reducing "fringe benefits" expense line item by about $70,000.  The combined effect is therefore approximately $170,000. Unnecessary full time employees’ should be the elimination target that delivers the most cost reduction.
2) By using $350,000 from the Fund Balance, the Town is avoiding the real need to reduce an inflated budget.  Solution = reduce the budget. Don’t pay for an inflated budget with the Town's highly respected fund balance. Using the fund balance to pay for an inflated budget is a total waste of the Town's fund balance.

So today, you'll have your chance to send this proposed budget back for spending reductions or to vote yes for higher taxes!!! What will it be?
