Vote YES for Higher Taxes Thursday in Woodbury

On Tuesday, June 24, 2014 12:53 PM, I wrote t my email buddies:

Friends,

Our First Selectmen, Mr. Butterly, has mobilized the town government facilities and personnel to try to convince us that our taxes are not going up. What they fail to point out is that regardless of the amount of your taxes you will be paying, they are using $225,000 from a surplus in this year’s tax receipts of $291,000 to pay for the increase in his spending. This excess in tax monies received this year should be returned to the taxpayer directly and not use to pay for additional spending in the coming year.

Also, the increased mill rate will also be applied to the automobile taxes you will be paying.

Finally, even in the event that your taxes are going down with the reevaluation, they could be ever lower by REDUCING the .06 mill rate or $200,000+ Mr. Butterly and MR. DeSorbo, Chair of the Finance Board are asking with their Yes vote!!!

Let's say No to Higher Taxes on Thursday, June 26th.

Below is one reply I received:

More importantly, this budget has removed the Capital Projects which Mr. Butterly and Mr. DeSorbo indicated that they will pursue bonding these items. The costs of bonding these items will be reflected in your taxes but is currently not reflected in the proposed budget.

So if you think that you will be paying less taxes, think again,

This is only a clever way to break the budget apart to give the appearance that you are paying less.

A VOTE YES is a YES VOTE FOR HIGHER TAXES.

Vote NO to HIGHER TAXES

PRESS RELEASE:

Property owners in the Town of Woodbury recently had their properties re-evaluated, and understandably this has caused confusion. To help you better understand what your taxes will be this year, the Tax Assessor’s Office has compiled a listing showing taxpayers their new property values and the projected taxes for the coming fiscal year. The following departments have this information available for viewing or you can call the Assessor’s Office at 203-263-2435: Town Clerks (2032632144), Assessors (2032632435), Tax Collector (2032633912), Woodbury Public Library (2032633502) and Senior Community Center (2032632828).

They will have a listing by address, showing the new assessed values.  This information is helpful to taxpayers so that they can be informed about their upcoming tax bill. We are pleased to report that records reflect approximately 60% of Woodbury’s property owners’ taxes have decreased.
