Woodbury Residents Voting on Open Space Approval and Acquisition in May

 

The following press release comes from Woodbury First Selectman Gerald D. Stomski.

Woodbury First Selectman Gerald D. Stomski said the town received letters of support from the Commission and the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition, for the acquisition of open space on Minortown Road. The town received a partial grant for the acquisition from the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. The open space has also been given the designation of “Connecticut Greenway” also by the DEEP.

"We are appreciative of the support given to us by the Park & Recreation Commission and the Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition," said Stomski. "These two groups understand the many values associated with the acquisition of the property including the recreational values which allow families to spend time together and the necessity for the town to protect our watersource."

The town will ask the voters to vote for the approval and for the appropriation of the open space parcel at the annual town meeting at 8 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012, at the .
