CERT is about readiness, people helping people, rescuer safety, and doing the greatest good for the greatest number. CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations where citizens will be initially on their own and their actions can make a difference. Through training, citizens can manage utilities and put out small fires; treat the three killers by opening airways, controlling bleeding, and treating for shock; provide basic medical aid; search for and rescue victims safely; and organize themselves and spontaneous volunteers to be effective.
The Woodbury Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a local community service group, educated, trained and certified to support our own emergency first-responders (Police, Fire, EMT) in the time of crisis. Our team’s definitive goal is to consistently improve our local emergency Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery efforts for the best interest of our town.
We are a town-wide organization, certified under a larger nationwide Federal Emergency Management Agency program initiative, recognized and authorized to be activated by the state of CT, member of the President’s Citizen Corps, and managed under our town's Emergency Management Director - Randy Ashmore.
Membership is free of charge and enables concerned citizens to take advantage of a multifaceted community-strengthening certification program.
