St. George's Epsicopal Church Hosts Open Lenten Soup, Book Discussion Group

St. George’s Episcopal Church in Middlebury extends a warm welcome to the public to join their annual Lenten Soup and Book Discussion Group.

This year’s selection is “Proof of Heaven: A Neurosurgeon's Journey into the Afterlife’. It chronicles the true story of Dr. Eben Alexander, a highly trained neurosurgeon who  believed that Near Death Experiences were fantasies produced by brains under extreme stress. But then, Alexander contracted a rare brain illness and became comatose. Doctors felt it highly unlikely that he would survive.

Proof of Heaven…’ chronicles that 7 day period during which  Alexander encountered a spiritual realm that debunked his previously held beliefs about NDE’s and from which he awoke healed.

The Lenten Soup and Book Discussion Group runs February 15 through March 15th from 6-8:30 pm. It will be held in the church's Pumpkin Room. The church is located at the corner of Tucker Hill Road and Route 188.

Those wishing to attend must registered by calling: 203-758-9864 or by email:  stgeorges9864@att.net
